I think it's a combination of fear play and bondage, but I imagine myself being put into a more and more helpless situation, like being tied up, or in a position where I can't do anything, to prevent my oncoming death. An example would be that I'm imagining I'm being prepared for the gallows, and I get turned on as they handcuff my hands behind my back, drag me to the trapdoor, bind my ankles, place the noose around my neck and about to drop me by the whim of the executioner, and I cannot do anything to stop it.
