NIKKI’S WAIT<br /><br />SWOOSH – THUNK!<br /><br />The girl’s pretty blonde head dropped into the waiting tub. Now there were only three girls between Nikki and the guillotine. She watched as the two chef’s assistants removed the girl’s naked body and prepared it for roasting.<br /><br />The guillotine was reset and the next girl’s hands and feet were bound. The bonds weren’t to restrain the girls – they were all volunteers – they were simply to make it easier for the kitchen staff. It was much easier for them to spit roast the body if the limbs didn’t fling about. They lifted her and laid her down on the table that had the small kitchen guillotine attached.<br /><br />Nikki was so excited; soon it would be her turn. Like the other girls, she had volunteered for this. Nikki had grown up in this town and she had known that every year its most prominent citizens enjoyed a party. Part of the party was a banquet and each year five young women were selected from the many volunteers to serve – or rather be served – as the main course.<br /><br />SWOOSH – THUNK!<br /><br />The girl who had just been laid on the table was now removed from it – leaving her head behind. There were now only two girls ahead of Nikki, who was lucky enough to be at the end of the line. The next girl, a petite redhead, was prepared for the guillotine.<br /><br />Nikki had worked as a bartender since she turned twenty-one and last year she had been asked to serve behind the bar at the big party. The day of the party she had met a beautiful Latina girl named Marta. Marta had been one of those selected for the meal. Later, as Nikki stood behind the bar at the party, she saw that Marta’s head had been placed as the centerpiece at one of the tables. She found herself staring at it most the evening and she knew that she had to be one of those girls next year.<br /><br />SWOOSH – THUNK!<br /><br />That pretty little redhead no longer had her head. One more girl, Nikki thought, then it’s my head. <br /><br />The girl in front of Nikki was someone that she knew. The girl’s named was Lisa and they had gone to high school together. They had never really been friends and had only seen each other a couple of times since graduation. However, when they had seen each other today and learned that they were both going to be beheaded, they had embraced each other as though they were best friends.<br /><br />Nikki and Lisa had held hands in line as they waited and watched the other executions, but now Lisa’s hands were bound. Two men lifted Lisa onto the table and placed her neck beneath the blade. <br /><br />Nikki watched excitedly as Lisa was placed in the guillotine. <br /><br />SWOOSH – THUNK!<br /><br />One of the kitchen hands had released the blade and it slid down neatly slicing off Lisa’s head. The girl’s naked body jerked about for a minute before it fell still. It was now Nikki’s turn.<br /><br />As two men removed Lisa from the guillotine, two more seized Nikki’s hands and feet and began binding them. They finished and Nikki smiled slightly as she felt the man who had bound her feet subtly run his hand up her leg. The men lifted her unto the table and fitted her neck into the lunette. <br /><br />Nikki looked down into the metal tub that contained the severed heads of the four girls who had gone before her. We will make lovely centerpieces, she thought.<br /><br />Nikki’s heart was pounding with exhilaration as one of the men stepped up beside the guillotine. She heard the CLICK as the blade was released and a quick SWOOSH as it fell toward her neck. The blade cut through her neck and hit the stop, but she didn’t hear the telltale THUNK. She was too engrossed in the mixture of pleasure and pain as her head fell into the tub with the others.<br /><br />At the banquet that night, Nikki’s head sat in the center of one of the tables. As a beautiful young waitress began setting the filets down in front of the guests, Nikki’s head caught her eye. She noticed a slight smile on the beheaded girl’s face. She could barely take her eyes off of it all evening. Next year, she thought.
